French public broadcaster France Télévisions studies 4 KTV broadcasting scenarios for its premium programs. They have undertaken 4K/60p production experiments to evaluate future workflows, and specifically work on adapting filming methods and materials. The QoE is evaluated taking into account the impact of compression on both 4K digital content and scanned films, with a specific attention to noise levels. After providing an early first report of available 4K cameras suitable for TV applications, the impact of compression technology on different types of 4k content will be presented, with a particular focus on HEVC (High-Efficiency Video Coding) codec as the natural compression standard for upcoming 4KTV applications.

France Télévisions prüft UHDTV-Sendetechniken für seine hochwertigen Programme. Zu diesem Zweck wurde der Versuch einer UHDTV-Produktion mit 60 B/s zur Beurteilung späterer Abläufe und insbesondere für die Anpassung von Filmverfahren und Materialien unternommen. Die QoE wird unter Berücksichtigung der Auswirkung der Kompression auf den digitalen Inhalt und gescannte Filme im UHDTV-Format bewertet, mit besonderem Augenmerk auf den Rauschpegel. Zunächst erfolgt eine erste Darstellung verfügbarer 4K/UHD-Kameras mit Eignung für TV-Anwendungen, danach wird die Auswirkung der Kompressionstechnologie auf UHDTV-Inhalte präsentiert, mit Schwerpunkt auf dem HEVC-Codec als Kompressionsstandard für zukünftige UHDTV-Anwendungen.
