Today’s consumers are increasingly comfortable using voice commands to control their devices — from smartphones, to in-car entertainment systems. And we’ve all experienced the ease of using voice to accomplish tasks; just think about dialling up a call centre and going through an IVR system. But what’s the next stage of voice control? Consider the home where, with the development of the Internet of Things (IoT) we are seeing more and more devices added to our networks, including lighting, heating and security. Does this mean more controllers in our home, or a succession of mobile apps? Perhaps, but it also means that voice has a role to play in bringing control to this multiplicity of devices.
