In November 2009 ORF began offering a selection of live and on-demand programs via its Internet video platform www.tvthek.orf.at. Video clips are normally offered for one week after the date of broadcast, according to the well-known principle of 'seven days catch-up'. This article describes the concept of this service, the workflow and the system. It also details some interesting additional features and their implementation. The paper closes with a preview outlining forthcoming technical developments.
P. Ridwald: Auf dem Internet-Videoportal tvthek.orf.at bietet der ORF seit dem Start im November 2009 ausgewählte Sendungen „on demand“ – also zeitsouverän – wie auch „live“ an. Vorwiegend werden Videobeiträge, dem populären „Seven Days Catch Up-Prinzip“ entsprechend, eine Woche lang nach Ausstrahlungsdatum angeboten. Der vorliegende Bericht beschreibt die Idee und Aufgabenstellung, das entwickelte Konzept, den Workflow, eingesetzte Systemteile als auch einige interessante Funktionen und deren Umsetzung.
