According to EBU expert Antonio Arcidiacono, the new 5G mobile communications standard is a unique opportunity to implement a common broadcasting standard for the first time. "We have a great opportunity to establish a worldwide standard and bridge the gap between unicast and broadcast services for mobile devices based on the same transmission technology," the EBU Director of Technology & Innovation said at the Munich Media Days.

Der neue Mobilfunk-Standard 5G ist EBU-Experte Antonio Arcidiacono zufolge die momentan einmalige Möglichkeit, zum ersten Mal einen einheitlichen Rundfunkstandard durchzusetzen. „Wir haben die große Chance eines weltweiten Standards und des Brückenschlags zwischen Unicastund Broadcast-Diensten für mobile Geräte auf Basis derselben Übertragungstechnologie“, sagte der Direktor für Technologie und Innovation der Europäischen Rundfunkunion (EBU) auf den Münchner Medientagen.
