With HDTV a new era of the digital TV begins with quality close to the original content from the film studios. On the one hand, this content should be available to the customers in appropriate way, but on the other hand, it should be protected against the raising film piracy. This requires a new technology: CI-Plus. Based on Common Interface, CI Plus fulfils the strong requirements for content protection, realised by both technical and organizational means (i.e. license agreement).

Diese Inhalte sollen zum einen dem Kunden in gewünschter Weise zur Verfügung gestellt, aber zum anderen auch vor der global ansteigenden Film-Piraterie geschützt werden. Das erfordert eine neue Technik: „CI Plus“. Basierend auf dem aktuellen Common- Interface erfüllt CI-Plus die besonderen Anforderungen bezüglich Schutz der Inhalte und wird durch technische und organisatorische Maßnahmen, zum Beispiel Lizenz-Vereinbarung unterstützt.
