The development of HbbTV reaches another milestone with the availability of TV sets implementing version 2 of the specification. TV services that integrate smartphones and tablets as so-called second screens and synchronize A/V content from the Internet to the TV signal are now ready to be deployed. In recent years, the prerequisites for this have been laid in the 2-IMMERSE project, in which exciting scenarios and prototypical services have been developed. The following article takes a closer look at one of the prototypes for a motorsport broadcast and also shows how broadcasters can integrate HbbTV 2 features into their offerings in the future.
Michael Probst: Die Entwicklung von HbbTV erreicht mit der Verfügbarkeit von TV Geräten, die Version 2 der Spezifikation implementieren, einen weiteren Meilenstein. TV-Dienste, die Smartphones und Tablets als sogenannte Second-Screens einbinden und A/V-Inhalte aus dem Internet zum TV-Signal synchronisieren, werden nun realisierbar.
