Digital displays are increasingly being used to convey advertising and information in public areas. Editorially-managed systems unite several different technologies: networking, databases, audio, video and displays as well as content-creation and design. This paper considers aspects of the required infrastructure and potential applications. The requirements of specific production platforms and standards are then considered along with technical development trends. The authors conclude with a look into the future.

Diese redaktionell gemanagten Multidisplay-Systeme führen verschiedene Branchen zusammen: Know-how aus Netzwerk-, Datenbank-, Audio-, Video- und Displaytechnik sowie gestalterischer und redaktioneller Tätigkeit. Es werden Aspekte der erforderlichen Infrastruktur sowie Einsatzmöglichkeiten aufgezeigt und auf die Anforderungen an Produktionsplattformen und -standards eingegangen. Des Weiteren werden Besonderheiten der Contentproduktion und Entwicklungstrends der technischen Systemkomponenten für Digital Signage dargestellt.
