DVB-H and IP Datacast enable the efficient transmission of multimedia content to small batterypowered devices. Various content types (digital tv, etc.) may be transferred, among them software applications. This paper describes usage scenarios of software applications on DVB-H/IP Datacast terminals. Furthermore, the Handheld Software Platform (HSP) isintroduced. Thiss oftware platform provides the necessary infrastructure for the usage of software applications which are received via DVB-H and IP Datacast.

Mit DVB-H und IP-Datacast steht ein neues leistungsfähiges Kommunikationssystem für kleine batteriebetriebene Endgeräte zur Verfügung. Es ermöglicht neben der Übertragung von digitalem Fernsehen (Audio/Video) und anderen Arten von digitalen Daten auch die Ausspielung von Software-Programmen („Applikationen“). Der Beitrag erläutert die Nutzungsmöglichkeiten von Softwareapplikationen auf DVB-H/IP Datacast-Endgeräten. Weiterhin wird die Handheld Software Platform (HSP) vorgestellt. Diese Softwareplattform bildet die notwendige Infrastruktur auf mobilen Endgeräten, um per DVB-H und IP-Datacast empfangene Applikationen nutzen zu können.
