At the start of the Bundesliga season 2005/2006, on August 6, 2005, the Sportschau im Ersten presented itself with a modernized outfit. Centerpiece of the new design is a LED stripe (11,5 m × 1,2 m), which replaces the actual monitors. The LED stripe consists of small, 3 mm single elements, offering an extreme high resolution. To fill the stripe in full width, HD technology is used in Bundesliga coverage for the first time.

Herzstück der neuen Optik ist ein LED-Band (11,5 m ﾗ 1,2 m), das die bisherigen Monitore ersetzt. Das LED-Band besteht aus 3 mm kleinen Einzelelementen und hat eine extrem hohe Auflösung. Um das LED-Band in voller Breite bespielen zu können, kommt erstmalig in der Bundesliga-Berichterstattung die HD-Technik zum Einsatz.
