Over 22 years ago, Mr. Zygmunt Solorz-Zak (one of Poland’s richest people) founded and launched the first free-to-air (FTA) commercial satellite TV channel – Polsat. Today, the broadcasting station airs FTA and PayTV channels via terrestrial as well as through satellite transmission after obtaining a national commercial television license in 1993. This contribution shows besides the offered services the migration towards a tapeless production environment.
Reinhard E. Wagner: Vor rund 22 Jahren hat Zygmunt Solorz-Zak den ersten kommerziellen „free-to-air“ (FTA) Satelliten-TV-Kanal gegründet: der Beginn von Polsat. Heute sendet die Rundfunkanstalt FTA und Pay-TV-Kanäle über terrestrische als auch Satellitenverbreitungswege, nachdem man dafür im Jahr 1993 eine nationale kommerzielle TV-Genehmigung erworben hat. Im Beitrag werden neben den angebotenen Diensten auch die Migration zur bandlosen Produktion vorgestellt.
