The European funded project „Answer“ is a new approach to the creative process of film production and offers tools for the optimization of the workflow, from the first ideas to post-production. It is based on a symbolic notation system, called Director Notation (DN), through which an automated 3D animation is created by using a graphic editor and an ontology. Therefore the scene can be visualized at once and can be changed, if necessary. Due to the integration into a film post production system, the animation is synchronized with the real film scenes, using automated content-based video analysis technology. The contribution explains the research project and related results.

Das basiert auf einer symbolischen Beschreibung, der „Director Notation“ (DN), die über einen grafischen Editor und eine Ontologie ein semantisches Modell für eine automatische 3D-Animation erzeugt. Damit kann die beschriebene Szene sofort visualisiert und geändert werden. Durch die Integration in ein Film-Nachbearbeitungssystem wird die Animation mit den realen Filmbildern unter Nutzung automatischer inhaltsbasierender Videoanalyseverfahren synchronisiert. Im Beitrag werden das Projekt „Answer“ und die Forschungsergebnisse beschrieben.
