A new sound reproduction system has been installed at the Zeiss Planetarium in Jena by Fraunhofer IDMT. It was fitted to the needs of today’s planetarium operation and workflows. This article describes the background and challenges of this project, as well as the functional principles of the sound system and object based 3D sound production. In addition, the system design, configuration and the integration with the projection facilities are introduced. Finally, the processes of content production and performance are discussed.
Rene Rodigast; Thomas Korn: Im Zeiss-Planetarium in Jena wurde vom Fraunhofer-Institut für Digitale Medientechnologie IDMT in Ilmenau ein Beschallungs- und Audioproduktionssystem installiert, das an die Anforderungen des heutigen Planetariumsbetriebs angepasst ist. Der Artikel beschreibt das Projektumfeld und die Herausforderungen der Installation sowie die Funktionsweise des Systems basierend auf den Prinzipien der objektbasierten 3D-Audioproduktion. Darüber hinaus wird die Konzeption und Konfiguration der Anlage in Jena sowie ihre Einbindung in die Projektionsumgebung des Planetariums vorgestellt. Schließlich kommt der Produktions und Vorführbetrieb zur Sprache.
