Traditional cable television headends still carry content in the old-fashioned way, as an ASI/ SDI signal to be multiplexed. ‘All IP’ headends are expected to replace this technology but managing IP networks can be very complex. Modern IPTV headends are based on ‘All IP’ which means that physical and logical entities within an inventory have to be managed. On the other hand ‘All IP’ headends are expected to reduce operating expenses and capital costs on a large scale for telecom operators. This article is about how to reach both goals.
